Some properties don’t just sit on the market — they wait for the right person to recognize their worth. This magnificent manor house, set in the oldest quarter of Porreres in the heart of inland Mallorca, is exactly that kind of place. Built in 1890, its 607 square meters have quietly accumulated more than a century of island history, family legacy, and an architectural confidence that simply cannot be replicated today.

The house announces itself from the street in the most understated and powerful way possible. Its stone façade stretches along nearly an entire block, wrapping around the corner and continuing along the side street — a presence that commands attention before you even step inside. The ornate balcony, the carefully proportioned windows, and the quality of the original stonework speak to a level of craftsmanship that defines this era of Mallorcan architecture.

Step through the entrance and the scale of the home becomes immediately apparent. A spectacular main living and dining room greets you, framed by exposed wooden beams and anchored by original stone columns that rise toward the high ceilings. At the far end, the original garden reveals itself through the space — a green and luminous backdrop that anchors the entire ground floor.

The ground level fans out from this central hall, revealing a full bathroom, a large kitchen ready for reimagining, a storage room, and the traditional Mallorcan coladuria — a utility space once used for laundry that today could serve any number of contemporary purposes. Fireplaces punctuate the communal spaces, adding warmth and character during the cooler months.

The upper floors hold all 12 bedrooms, each with its own proportions and light. This number is remarkable even by the standards of grand Mallorcan town houses and speaks to the ambition of the family that built it. High ceilings, generous room sizes, and windows that look out over rooftops and the private garden below make each room feel distinct and livable.

Outside, the walled private garden offers something increasingly rare in a village center: genuine seclusion. Enclosed by the home’s own walls, it is a calm and protected space — ideal for mornings with coffee, long summer lunches, or simply the pleasure of outdoor living without compromise. Terraces and the street-facing balcony complete an exterior that flows naturally from the interior.

Porreres and the Pleasures of Authentic Mallorca

Porreres sits squarely in the agricultural heartland of Mallorca, and that’s precisely its appeal. Unhurried, authentic, and genuinely local, the village offers a quality of life that’s hard to find closer to the coast. The weekly market, neighborhood restaurants serving traditional Mallorcan dishes, the main square lined with cafés — these are the rhythms that define daily life here.

And yet the coast is never far. Es Trenc, Cala d’Or, Portocolom, and Cala Mondragó — some of Mallorca’s most celebrated beaches — are all within a 25–30 minute drive. Palma and the airport are roughly 40 minutes away. The surrounding countryside is prime cycling and hiking territory, with quiet country roads threading through almond groves, vineyards, and traditional farms.

This is a property for someone with vision. Whether as a grand family home or a restoration project of real cultural significance, the possibilities are as wide as the house itself. With 12 bedrooms, a private garden, original architectural features, and a footprint that dominates an entire street corner, it represents an opportunity that rarely comes to market.

The team at Villas y Fincas Mallorca would be delighted to arrange a private viewing and walk you through every corner of this extraordinary home.
